About Tímavera
Tímavera is a time tracking app and website for contractors and small contracting businesses.
How it works:
- Employees record their time through the Tímavera app – available for iPhone and Android.
- Business owners and managers get a company account to the Tímavera website where they can view and manage projects.
- Simply add new users and projects through the website.
- Get a detailed overview of the number of hours clocked per employee per project.
- Run reports for simple overtime calculations.

We designed Tímavera to be simple and free from unnecessary features.
- No extra equipment or physical setup required.
- Owners access the website to manage their projects and employees use their own phones.
- Workers can use geo-location tracking for better time management, promoting transparency for clients, bosses, and colleagues.
- Workers can leave comments on their work logs to point out errors or mention if they had to purchase supplies.
The time tracking system is in active development. We have and will always prioritise simplicity, functionality and reliability.

Upload images
Employees can easily upload images in the app for various use cases. For example:
- To document progress to keep stakeholders informed.
- Proof of proper work completion, which can help if a dispute arises.
- Images of invoices to remember which project it belongs to and ensuring it is not forgotten.
- Proof of unforeseen circumstances if more work is required.
Employee permissions
Managers can choose to grant some or all employees extra permissions in the app:
- Add and edit time entries. If an employee forgets to clock in or out they can fix it themselves. Also useful if workers prefer to manually enter time entries at the end of the day or week. Greatly reduces admin work.
- Create projects. Useful when a company has multiple small projects that only take minutes or a few hours. With this permission an employee can create a project directly in the app and clock in right away.

About the company
Tímavera ehf. was founded in May 2017 in Iceland by two software developers and two painters.
Finnbogi and Jón Hafdal are both master painters, who have been operating their own businesses for years. They struggled to find an easy-to-use time tracking system that catered to their type of business – that of small contracting companies.
Ólafur learned of their frustration and quickly envisioned a simple app based time tracking system. Ólafur created the original website and recruited Jón Rúnar to build the mobile app.
News about Tímavera spread through the community of contractors and small business owners within Iceland. Early users found that Tímavera helped them manage project and employee time in a simple way that met their needs.
Since the beginning the company has enjoyed a modest but steady growth. The company has always been in full ownership of its founders with no outside investment. Profitably run and no debt. That has enabled a healthy customer focused product development which we hope and plan to continue for years to come.
